Six months to the day since my first post, I’ve got a semi-big announcement for the blog currently known as 5,478 Days.
Ever since I started this blog, I’ve always coveted the URL hopestreet.wordpress.com.
Hope Street, as regular readers know, is where my grandfather and his family lived. It also has a great ring to it — a neat combination of mundane and optimistic. There are a million streets in the naked city, but only one Hope Street.
My chosen URL happened to have been taken some years ago by a woman who hadn’t really used it for much. So I did what I should have done in March — I emailed her and asked her if she’d be willing to turn it over. She was. (Thanks, Jewel. You’re awesome.)
The upshot of all this is: This blog has moved to a new address, hopestreet.wordpress.com.
I will have both sites running simultaneously for a week or two to be sure the new one works. Then I’ll more or less shut down the old one so it just directs people here.
If I don’t bollocks it up, the intent is to have the site look exactly the same, with all the same content — only at a new URL.
I realize a few of you may have to update bookmarks; and I’m not 100 percent sure whether email subscriptions will carry over or not. Sorry for the inconvenience. I think the new URL will be more memorable in the long run than the jumble of numbers I have now.
I’ll post another reminder or two in the next week. I look forward to seeing you at — say it with me — hopestreet.wordpress.com.
